About
Our Goal
We provide small, rural and underserved communities in Ontario, with increased access to post-secondary education and training opportunities.
Through the use of online learning, local partnerships and government support we enable students to learn where they live. making it possible to pursue their educational goals without having to leave their local community.
Our History
- In 1986 the Ontario Government supported an initiative to give the residents of Northern Ontario improved access to College and University courses and programs through distance education.
- Known as Contact North/Contact Nord, a variety of centers were opened where residents could take literacy, high school, college or university courses directly in their local community.
- Today Contact North/Contact Nord has over 90 centers and serves over 5,000 students annually in Northern Ontario.
Today
- Based on the success of Contact North/Contact Nord, the Ontario Government funded the expansion of this service to the residents of Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.
- Known as elearnnetwork.ca, we are a publicly funded organization partnered with Ontario's Colleges and Universities.
- We opened our first 5 Centres in 2007.
- After further expansion in 2009, elearnnetwork.ca now has 18 Centres across Eastern and Southwestern Ontario.
